What is "Heads Up" ? - Know what a 10-1 is?

HEADS UP is an email list that has been created specifically for notifying other members of NZScanners to current happenings. Post messages to HEADS UP that you think other members would be interested in. A rule of thumb would be to ask yourself - 'Could this be a news story'? If you think it would make the news, then other members probably would like to hear about it! So send a HEADS UP and 10-1 the members! This is a separate list and not membership to the general NZScanners Email discussion list.

A number of members have HEADS UP's sent to their mobile phones as text alerts or emails.  

PLEASE NOTE, The 'headsup@nzscanners.org.nz' emailing list is only used for notifying other NZScanner members of current (As in within minutes please) happenings. This isn't a discussion email list. The general NZScanners discussion list is still 'nzscanners@nzscanners.org.nz'

Usage of the Heads Up list is subject to the following rules READ THEM BEFORE SUBSCRIBING!

Any breach of these rules may result in your removal from access to the list, and may also result in your removal from other NZ Scanners lists. The administrators decision on this matter is final. Spam emails are NOT allowed. Advertising emails are NOT allowed. Do NOT send emails that pretend to be from someone else. Do NOT use Heads Up for messages that should be on NZ Scanners or should be directed to one person. Do NOT send emails here unless they are about currently happening events. Be aware that emails on this list may wake some people up. Be aware that replying to a post on this list will go back to the NZSCANNERS EMAIL list. (NOT the Heads Up one!) All posters 'header' information is REMOVED from all emails before being sent out to the list members, for security and privacy reasons. Emails to the HEADS UP email list appear to be anonymous. Example Heads Up E-mail

Below is an example of a Heads Up Email. To keep a standardised form, we request that ALL emails follow this (or a very similar format) where possible

If sending a 'Heads Up' - Please include the following details (if possible)
In The SUBJECT LINE-

• TELEPHONE STD - 09, 07, 06, 04 or 03(This assists in quickly asessing the location)
• Location - (North Shore, Papanui etc)
• Event, ( FTS, Fire, Homicide, 1V etc)
• Service(Police, Fire, Ambo etc)

In The EMAIL CONTENTS-

• Time,(of actual event)
• Location,(More specific details if possible)
• Details,(As MUCH as possible)
• Freq(s)( Freq(s) being used in event)
• Other(anything else you want to add)

Subscribe to NZ Scanners Heads Up Mailing list by filling out the following form . You will be sent email requesting confirmation, to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you. This is a public list, which means that the members list is openly available (but we obscure the addresses so they are not easily recognizable by spammers).
